A tribute to our late President and details regarding his funeral on Tuesday 26th March can be found in the section below.

By now, many will have heard of the passing of our Club President, Cyril Butterworth. Cyril died on Monday 18th March 19 after a long illness.

Cyril served the club for over 60 years as a player, captain, committee member, Treasurer, Chairman and latterly as our President and he will be sorely missed. Cyril was a great ambassador for the club and a truly exceptional man who absolutely loved our wonderful game of cricket. Cyril was a stylish, high class batsman with exquisite timing, and one of the best amateur batsman the club has ever had.

Our thoughts are with Barbara and the Butterworth family at this very sad time.

Barbara has asked me to pass on details of Cyril’s funeral which will take place on Tuesday 26th March 19.

A service will be held at 1.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Hawkshaw, followed by cremation at East Lancs Crematorium at Radcliffe at 2.30pm and afterwards at Greenmount Cricket Club.

On the way to the crematorium, the funeral cortège will pause at Greenmount Cricket Club for a couple of minutes, should anyone not be able to attend the service either at the church or at the crematorium.

Family flowers only please but donations can be made to Bolton Hospice, via Booth & Wolstenholme Funeral Directors, Crow Lane, Ramsbottom.
