What a weekend that was! 2nds promoted on Saturday, U15s win the Cup on Sunday

16/09/19 | Rob Kilvington

The Log Cabin saw the 2nd XI gain promotion in the sun on Saturday and the U15s win the GMCL U15 Cup in the drizzle on Sunday - a fantastic end to the season for both teams, whilst our Members and supporters enjoyed a selection of ales and ciders at the annual GCC beer festival and IAMPIZZA provided a fantastic choice of pizzas to keep energy levels high

Saturday saw the Log Cabin swathed in sunshine as the 2nd XI finished with a fantastic win against Bolton, Deane and Derby, the League winners, to secure the runners up spot and promotion. It was so good to see the ground bursting with people enjoying the cricket, the beer at the GCC Beer Festival and the wonderful pizzas served up by IAMPIZZA. The evening saw the team celebrate promotion at the beer festival and enjoy 2 sets played by the Lemonade Orchestra who got the Log Cabin rocking. A truly fantastic night was had by all. Our thanks to both IAMPIZZA and the Lemonade Orchestra for the part you both played in a wonderful day.

Sunday saw us host the GMCL Under 15 Finals Day. The rain unfortunately meant all matches were reduced to 10 overs a side, with our own U15s beating Egerton in the first semi final and Monton beating Glodwick in the 2nd semi final. The final saw Greenmount emerge as victors against a very good Monton team with GCC Captain Evan Williams receiving the Man of the match award. Our thanks go to all the umpires who officiated during the day and to all the players who made the most of difficult conditions.
